Nature is sometimes very cruel, sending hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes and other natural disasters to the world. But sometimes she creates her creations, being in a surprisingly humorous mood. Do not believe? Check out our selection of photos of the funniest animals in the world and smile. And have a nice day!

10. Axolotl

This funny guy, who is also called the aquarium dragon and the Mexican salamander, belongs to the amphibians from the ambistom family. And do not be fooled by its innocent appearance, the axolotl reaches puberty and is capable of reproduction, remaining a seemingly amphibious child.

Where did the axolotl get its unusual name? Some say it comes from the name of Xolotl (or Sholotl), the Aztec god of death. He was also a god of ugliness and sometimes turned into a dog or a salamander. In fact, there is a myth that Xolotl turned into a salamander when the souls of the underworld rebelled against him, and he wanted to hide at the bottom of Lake Sochimilco, where he stayed for so long that he could no longer walk on the ground.

Others say that “axolotl” comes from two words - “atl” (which means “water”) and “xolotl” (which means “dog”), therefore “axolotl” is a water dog.

9. Angora rabbit

In the photo of the funniest animals in the world you will see completely different creatures - bald, shaggy, covered with bristles. However, there are no more fluffy ones like Angora rabbit in our collection.

This revitalized lump of fur is pleasant to iron because the Angora rabbit fur is very soft to the touch. With one caveat - if the animal is combed daily. Then it can easily be ranked among the most beautiful animals in the world.

By the way, the most famous Angora rabbit in the world, Wally already has more than 295 thousand followers on Instagram (it is called wally_and_molly). I don’t know about you, but for me such a figure causes a slight sense of inferiority.

8. Yeti Crab

You still don't believe in Bigfoot? But in front of you is his pet, he even has it in the name!

Okay, jokes aside. After all, the harsh conditions in which these crustaceans live do not have much fun. Yeti crabs are located at a depth of over 2,000 meters below the surface of the water, next to very hot hydrothermal springs in the South Pacific. Therefore, they must be very careful not to boil alive or freeze in cold water. Moreover, toxic gases interfere with full chest breathing.

However, the yeti crab has adapted perfectly even to such an existence. Long bristles covering his body and claws, according to some scientists, help cleanse contaminated water. Other scientists believe that a large number of bacteria are caught in these bristles, which serve as the main food of this creature.

7. Grimpotevtis

If the baby elephant Dambo was born an octopus, he probably would have been just like a grimpotevtis.

The most obvious feature of dumbo octopuses is their rounded “ears” protruding from the sides of their heads. No other species of octopus can boast anything similar.

These cephalopods are sometimes called winged octopuses, because the “ears” can also look like “wings.” (Remember that Dumbo could fly?)

However, in reality, “ears” are not ears at all, and not even wings, but fins.

In addition to their pseudo ears, the funniest animals of the ocean are known for bell-shaped heads and large eyes. The diameter of their eyes is about a third of the width of the head. For comparison: the diameter of the eyes of an adult (24 mm) is about 1/7 of the width of the skull.

6. Kangaroo jumpers

At night, when the city falls asleep, a kangaroo jumper wakes up. And goes on a hard business.

The cheeks of these little gluttons always swell with prey. Animals require about 100 grams of dry barley seeds per month. Moreover, they themselves weigh from 35 to 180 grams.

But water is practically not needed, the kangaroo jumper extracts all the moisture from the seeds.

Kangaroo jumpers got their name because of the habit of jumping on their hind legs, like a kangaroo.

5. Drop fish

Sometimes the funniest animals in the world look like the embodiment of sadness. Of course, you will be saddened when you were made the talisman of the Society for the Protection of Ugly Animals.

But due to its appearance, a drop of fish appeared in many Internet memes, and even sailed to the movies. For example, she is in the third part of “Men in Black”, and in one of the episodes of the television series “The X-Files” (“Rm9sbG93ZXJz”).

4. Haitian crabfish

If you want to laugh at this long-nosed animal, do it so that he does not hear you. After all, the bite of the Haitian scabies is toxic, although not fatal to humans.

Surprisingly, in the process of evolution, the toothfish did not develop immunity from their poison. And given that they love and know how to fight with each other, they often die from the teeth of their relatives.

3. Darwin's Bat

This unusual animal as if prepared for the hottest date in his life. And went too far with makeup.

Darwin’s bat doesn’t have a chance to swim, so they adapted to walk along the bottom on modified pectoral fins, more like legs.

And to catch prey, these fish use illicium and escu. The first is part of the dorsal fin, modified during evolution, and hanging over the mouth. And an eska is a pouch located at the end of an illitium. It emits light that attracts a small fish that falls directly into the bright red lips of Darwin's bat.

2. White leaf-bearing

Let me go! I am evil! I am the night! This bat could have squeaked in the hands of man.

However, being less than 5 centimeters in length, a white leaf-bearing plant may not even expect to frighten someone larger than a mosquito. And this species does not drink blood, preferring fruits.

1. Australian echidna

If in other photographs of the coolest animals it is more or less clear what nature wanted to create, then when looking at the echidna, only one question arises: what is it? Why does this creature have porcupine needles, an anteater’s long nose and brood bag like a kangaroo? Well, the echidna is from Australia, and this country is full of different strange creatures.

Interestingly, the echidna is one of the few mammals that lay eggs. Having laid one egg, the female echidna puts it in a bag. There, a young echidna hatches and stays until she grows up.

And for the echidna to lay her eggs, she must first mate, and then another strangeness of this creature appears. In the mating season, males gather and circle around the female, and when she is ready for mating, the males dig a trench, pushing each other out. The last male remaining in the trench mates with the female.

In female echidna, the reproductive tract branches in two, while male echidna has a four-headed penis. Moreover, only two heads are “active” at a time, and the male alternates them until mating is successful.
