Without going into the main technical specifications Samsung Galaxy S5, let’s pay attention to details: after all, the screen resolution, processor type with its clock frequency, RAM size and other parameters for the top flagships of the first half of 2014 are not much different. But with a detailed review, the difference becomes visible, contributing to a more informed choice of smartphone.
So, SGS5, after the iPhone 5s, received a fingerprint scanner, but here it’s a bit controversial: in the iPhone 5s you can use the scanner to unlock the screen, and in SGS5, too, but in the first case, just put your finger on the Home button, and in the second swipe the touch screen by touching the center key. With one hand, this is quite difficult. Maybe someone manages to use the scanner while holding the smartphone with one hand, but with the standard palm size and the length of the fingers with one left, such unlocking the phone is inconvenient. But this is a claim to the buyer. Otherwise, the scanner works correctly and without any complaints (the system is able to remember up to three prints).
The capacity of the SGS5 battery, compared with the previous flagship of the company, has increased by 200 mAh and now amounts to 2800 mAh. Samsung phone prices are largely dependent on technical developments, because Koreans remain conservative in design and user features.
Translating into the language of numbers, the current performance of S5 is 390 hours of battery life, 21 hours of talk time, 10 hours of watching high-resolution video and a little more than 45 hours of listening to audio books or music. If we ignore Samsung and take our word for it, a terrific picture comes out, however, we all must understand: no matter what the manufacturer says, the Android smartphone will not last that much!
During direct tests, SGS5 did not work for 10 declared, but for 12 whole hours in video viewing mode! Please note that this is 12 hours only watching the video, and nothing more. And when was the last time you used any feature of your smartphone in non-stop mode? And therefore, if you simultaneously use Wi-Fi, the messenger and a couple of standard applications, often working by default, the claimed 10 hours will not be close. These are the details.
In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S5 still lasts longer than any competitor included in the 2014 smartphone rating. Neither HTC One M8 nor LG G3 reach him. And not so much because of the 2800 mAh that the battery has, but because of two additional energy saving modes (by the way, the current version of the user interface provides quick access to them, so if you need to dig into the settings for a long time). The first of the improved battery saving modes involves the introduction of time limits on the use of most applications and the transfer of the smartphone to black and white mode. The latter, by the way, is generally ideal for Samsung smartphones: phone displays are made using AMOLED technology, black and gray color when displaying almost or completely do not consume energy. The abundance of gray when activating this mode does not please the eyes, but in a critical situation you can tolerate! Verdict: at 10% charge in this mode, the smartphone will live quietly without an outlet for another 4 hours.
But this is what: when the extreme battery saving mode is activated, restricting the use of applications only to the list of basic applications and programs selected by the user, disabling the transmission of mobile data when the main screen is turned off, and also disabling all wireless features except GSM, at the same 10% the phone will work for another whole day!
In addition, SGS5 has a lot of practical system features, a "parent" mode, as well as a ton of branded applications that are really convenient to use every day (S Health, for example).
